RAWALPINDI: Investigators probing the cracker’s attack on Jinnah Public Park on Friday suspected that it was a ‘bottle bomb’ which was hurled on the main gate of the park on Wednesday.

Pieces of glass bottle, concrete and sand collected from the scene of the explosion were sent to the forensic science laboratory to determine the actual make of the device.

Earlier, the police claimed that a cracker was hurled at the main gate of the park by some unidentified car riders.

But the investigators from the counter-terrorism department believed that it was a ‘bottle’ bomb.

The investigators were also trying to get the close circuit television images from the nearby buildings as none of the onlookers who were in the park at that time was ready to help the investigators.

The only security guard who was on duty at the gate told the investigators that he heard the sound of an explosion but did not see who hurled the device.

The preliminary investigation showed that 300 to 400 grams of explosive was used in the attack.
