Four policemen killed in Quetta gun attack

QUETTA: Four policemen were killed on Thursday in Quetta's Pashtunabad area when unidentified assailants opened fire on a police mobile.

The armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a patrolling police mobile in the Manan Chowk area of Pashtunabad. Police said the assailants sped away on their motorcycles.

Police sources told DawnNews that two policemen died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to Civil Hospital in Quetta.

A heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the scene of the crime.

The attack comes a week after four policemen were killed on Pashtunabad's Mullah Salam Road while on a routine patrol.

A crackdown was launched in Balochistan's provincial capital city in the aftermath of last week's Pashtunabad gun attack on Saturday.

Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 33 suspects during various raids in the area.

PM condemns attacks

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the attacks on police officials in Quetta on Thursday. He deplored the loss of lives and sought a report into the incident. The PM also directed authorities to apprehend the criminals at the earliest.

Sir The best way to tackle this menace of target killing is to install fully manned CCTV cameras in the city and creation of rapid response force to nail down the terrorists!!! Regards

What is going in Pakistan, two incident within few hours both on police. Where is so called world class intelligence agencies?? No any major attack were foiled in recent past. Why should not they are questioned?? Not even police are safe, forget about common wen.

We shouldn't forget that police in pakistan is extremely politicised and is often used by elites for settling personal score and vendettas and often the police on it's own acts out of place and exploits their powers for example killing of brothers in pindi or lawyers in sialkot, modrl town incident etc and many other similar incidents that don't come to our notice. While it is somehow tolerated in punjab but has no place in KPK and balochistan where the spirit of revenge reigns supreme.

The real problem in these areas of quetta are the Afghans Mohajirs . State has to take strict actions to send back those migrants back to their home land in order to eradicate terrorism from quetta

Four per week, not more not less. Today 4 police men were killed right in broad day light in Quetta while in the same city 4 police men were also killed last week again during day time. What has been done by the government other than issuing condolences and forming investigation committee in this regard and how many have been arrested from those who killed last week? If noting has been arrested till this point of time, which is very much expected, then when will they be arrested is my only question. Will someone ever be arrested? As I have said earlier CCTV cameras are the necessity to track down in and out routes of terrorists. This will be really helpful for law enforcement agencies. Breaking or stealing these cameras will not be easy since camera will capture last shot of the thieve. Nowadays it is very easy to capture video of any criminal activity such as stealing or robbing etc. on mobile phone. So who knows thieve's video while stealing can be captured by other citizens.

The dynamics of Quetta are quite different than other cities. If we have alot of forces deployment there, simultaneously it is also infested with enemy sponsored infiltrators. Idea of CCTV cameras isn't bad but it would require training of those using them to their optimum, advantage. The local supporters need to be tracked down as such horrendous brute attacks are not possible without the support of locals. They are either bought or terrified not to speak out. Support of the locals to LEAs can be vital and is most important for quick and better results.

Its mind boggling to see continued terrorism, anarchy and loss of lives in Pakistan. Some of the politicians have failed to deliver any positive results, to capture and punish terrorists and criminals. Lets hope crooked politicians would refrain from causing hinderence to army's efforts. Now army seems to be only hope for restoring law and order situation. All should provide full cooperation to rangers and army, providing any info to help capture those criminals.
