GWADAR: A strike was observed in different areas of the Makran region on Thursday on the 17th anniversary of nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan on May 28, 1998, in Rasko area of the Chagai district.

The Baloch National Front (BNF) and the banned BSO-Azad had given a call for the strike.

All shops, business centres, markets and shopping plazas remained closed in Gwadar, Turbat, Pasni, Panjgur, Mand, Tump and some other areas of the Makran division. Private banks and other institutions also stayed closed.

A heavy contingent of police, Levies and Frontier Corps was deployed in different areas to avert any untoward incident.

The strike was also observed in Mastung.
