MURREE: Police are searching for a man who allegedly uprooted 11 benches installed at Kashmir Point near the house of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and sold them at a scrap shop.

Assistant Commissioner Murree Tahir Farooq told this correspondent on Tuesday that after the matter was brought to his knowledge he started a search in different places and recovered some of the benches at a scrap shop at Sunny Bank where they were sold.

The police have registered a case against the thieves and started an investigation, he added.

The official said so far five of the stolen benches had been recovered.

He said two people were arrested on suspicion who said they had purchased the benches from a man identified as Sarfaraz. The AC said the police were trying to trace the accused.
