RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has emphasised the need for disseminating the teachings of Quran and the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) to make Pakistan a peaceful and prosperous country.

Speaking at a Dastarbandi ceremony at Al Khalil Quran Complex here on Sunday, he said terrorism had affected normal life in the country and damaged society. The government wants to give a better future to coming generations, he said.

The minister said that the terrorist attack on Sri Lanka cricket team six years ago had harmed the image of Pakistan and traders, industrialists and tourists had stopped to come to Pakistan.

Senator Rashid said that by following uswa-i-hasana, “we can spread the teachings of Islam...which abhor terrorism and give lesson of unity, harmony and brotherhood”.

He said religious scholars should avoid issuing statements that divide society and they should play their role for creating unity among people.

He expressed regret over Friday’s suicide attack in Saudi Arabia which claimed lives of many worshippers and said that terrorism is a path of destruction.

Later, he distributed certificates among Huffaz and decorated the passing out students with dastars.
