PESHAWAR: Awami National Party provincial president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has alleged that PTI-led provincial government has been using development funds as bribes to get votes in the upcoming local government elections.

Addressed public meetings in Tehkal Bala, Sufaid Dheri and Surezai here on Sunday, he asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to take note of the matter.

The ANP provincial president and former chief minister said that the provincial government was unable to utilise funds for development of the province due to which the amount got lapsed.

Mr Hoti said that despite use of government’s resources, the tripartite alliance of the opposition would emerge victorious in May 30 local government polls because the people were sick with government’s policies.

The government had failed on all fronts and the people didn’t see any change promised by Imran Khan, he said.

“We are set to take back our stolen mandate from the ruling parties in the local government elections after which we will serve the people,” the ANP provincial president and former chief minister said.

He said that after winning the local government polls with thumping majority, they would initiate development schemes to improve health and education sectors. ANP was the only party, which could cope with the problems and challenges faced by the people of the province, he said.

“We have strived for the rights of the people and the people will prove that they stand with ANP in the polls,” Mr Hoti said. He added that PTI had lost its popularity.

The ANP leader said that provincial government was trying to rig local government elections but warned that such move would be foiled by the people and the government would face nothing but embarrassment.
