LAKKI MARWAT: Residents of Wanda Shahabkhel have demanded of the government to fill the vacant posts of headmaster and teachers in the village’s only high school.

Talking to this correspondent on Friday, they said that the post of headmaster was vacant for the last several months, causing administrative, financial and other problems in the educational institution.

Abdul Qudoos, a former nazim of the village, said that the shortage of teachers was adversely affecting the education of students. He said that two teachers of the schools were on long leave while some posts of teaching staff were vacant.

“The remote villages and hamlets located across Kurrum River are out of sight of the provincial authorities concerned,” he regretted. He said that the unavailability of headmaster and staff deficiency in the village’s only high school for boys was a question mark on the education department’s performance.

Mr Qudoos said that the area people were poor and they could not afford to send their children to high schools in other localities.

He asked the government to fill the vacant post of headmaster and authorise the local authorities of the elementary and secondary education department to arrange teachers for the school on temporary basis until the government appointed teachers.
