ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday appointed Mohammad Naeem as chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission for a period of three years, PAEC announced on Thursday.

Mr Naeem serving as PAEC member fuel cycle succeeded Dr Ansar Parvez who remained chairman of the commission for six years.

According to PAEC, Mr Naeem joined the commission in November, 1972, and served in various responsible positions.

Mr Naeem assumed the charge on Thursday.

In recognition of his meritorious services, the new PAEC chairman has been decorated with ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’ and ‘Hilal-i-Imtiaz’ by the government. He has significantly contributed to the country’s nuclear fuel cycle projects.
