'Karachi se Lahore' set to hit screens on July 31 2015

Following the buzz around Ho Man Jahaan and Jawaani Phir Nahi Aani, here's another film ready to hit cinemas in three months: Karachi Se Lahore (KSL), set to be released on July 31st.

The film's teaser featuring Ayesha Omer caused a stir when it was released — the movie's expected to pack a punch too.

Directed by Wajahat Rauf, known for his rom-com serials Karachi High (ARY), Minglish (ARY), and recent dramas Nikkah (HUM TV) and Soteli (ARY), KSL boasts a cast of famous TV and film actors like Javed Sheikh, Rashid Naaz, Ayesha Omar, Eshita Syed and Shahzad Sheikh.

Popular theater artist Yasir Hussain, who was lauded for his skills in plays Aangan Terrha and Sawa 14 August has penned the script for KSL.

“Karachi se Lahore is a romantic comedy, a home-grown Pakistani road trip movie about a group of five people travelling from Karachi to Lahore for a specific purpose," Wajahat revealed in an earlier interview.

"They go through this roller-coaster journey to get to their destination and end up finding themselves in the process", he added.

The music for KSL will be directed by singer Shiraz Upal and Noori’s Ali Hamza and Ali Noor. Wajahat had said that there may be item numbers — or what he termed "performance-based songs" — in the film.

New actors, including Ahmed Ali, Aashir Wajahat and Mantaha Maqsood, also feature in Karachi se Lahore.

We Indians dont mind it at all when Indian movies are screened in Pakistan. In fact we look at it as another good market. Wonder what stops the Pakistani film makers. Pakistani film makers took a valiant and a big step forward with Bol which got some very good response but have not released any films thereafter. Time for Pakistani film makers to look at the market across the border. Especially when some of the Pakistani artists are doing so well here and are a part of main stream cinema and sound. Also many Indians have roots in Pakistan. Delhi would be the biggest market. Hence, even the very mention of Lahore and Karachi(for some in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Mumbai) would bring a smile to many faces. Hope to see some good comedy movies from Pakistan being screened in India. All the best.

@jakoji Sarees are worn in Karachi a lot. This film should have sarees as some part of the film named Karachi se Lahore will be depicting life in Karachi.
