HYDERABAD: The nomination forms of all candidates for local government elections in ward numbers 1 and 6 of the Cantonment Board Hyderabad (CBH) were rejected on different grounds by Returning Officer/Cantonment Executive Officer Omer Siddique Chaudhry as scrutiny of forms came to an end on Saturday.

A list of valid candidates displayed on the notice board of the CBH showed that the forms of 30 candidates from the eight other wards had been accepted.

The candidates whose forms have been rejected have the right to file appeals before the deputy commissioner of Hyderabad. The final list of candidates will be issued on April 9.

Six candidates — Faqir Mohammad, Pervez, Nasir Ahmed, Nasir Khan, Saeed Ahmed and Riaz Ali — had filed nomination papers from ward number 1.

A similar number of candidates had filed papers from ward number 6. They were Mazhar Ahmed, Abdul Haleem Memon, Syed Ali Qasim Shah, Amir Ahmed, Manzoor Baloch and Nasir Aziz.

The forms of the 12 candidates have been rejected for different reasons, including their failure to produce original national identity cards or that of their proposers or ‘seconders’ before the returning officer.

The candidates whose forms have been accepted include: Mohammad Saleem Qureshi and M. Siddique (ward 2); Malik Mohammad Yasin, Farhan Qureshi, Zafar Ali and M. Kabir Siddiqui (ward 3); Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, Abdul Rehman, Abdul Sattar and Umer Sharif Rajput (ward 4); Mohammad Iqbal Memon and Gulzeb (ward 5); Dr Illahi Bux, Qazi A. Abbasi, Syed M. Ahmed Rashid, M. Faisal, Riaz Hussain and Sheikh Abdul Qadir (ward 7); Abdul Aziz, Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Imran (ward 8); Abdul Rasheed, Mohammad Ali Khan and Imran Khan (ward 9); and Ishtiaq Ahmed, Syed Jamil Ahmed Rizvi, Mohammad Siddiq, Qamaruddin and Adnan (ward 10).
