Altaf discusses Yemen issue with JI, JUI-F chiefs

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement supremo Altaf Hussain phoned Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday to discuss the ongoing Yemen crisis.

Earlier, Mr Hussain urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to convene a conference of political and religious parties in the country before taking a position on the conflict between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

According to an MQM press release, Mr Hussain and the JI chief were of the view that the UN and Muslim countries should try to resolve the Saudi-Yemeni conflict through dialogue.

Mr Haq said Pakistan and Turkey should play the role of a mediator in the resolution of the conflict instead of becoming a part to it. Maulana Fazl seconded Mr Hussain’s dem­a­nd for an all-party conference.

Mr Hussain assured the JUI-F chief that the MQM would support whatever decision he took on the issue.
