LAHORE: Twelve players have been selected in the national weightlifting training camp from which a final team will be announced to represent the country in Commonwealth Youth Games, being held at Apia, Samoa from Sept 5 to 12.

The players were selected after holding open trials in Lahore. Irfan Butt will hone the skill of weightlifters as coach in the training camp.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Youth Weight­lifting team has recently won six golds and three silver medals at this year’s Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships.

Probables: Abdur Rehman Butt (77 Kg, Asian Youth gold medalist), Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt (56 kgs, Asian Youth Silver), Fahad Hussain Butt (56 kgs, Asian Youth Silver), Muhammad Usman (62 kgs, Asian Youth 5th), ahsan Shafique (62 kgs), Talha Talib (56kgs), Saqib Saeef (69 kgs, national youth gold), Muhammad Sharjeel Butt (50 kgs, national Youth Gold), Farhan Amjad Butt (77kgs national youth silver), Ibran Khalid (69kgs, national youth silver), Abdul Hayee (94 kgs national youth silver), and Daniyal Aftab Butt (50 kgs, national youth silver).
