CNG crisis

Published March 20, 2015

PAKISTAN has the largest number of CNG stations and CNG vehicles. But today the country is facing a CNG crisis, as it is only available four days a week.

The majority of public transporters in Pakistan don’t run their transport vehicles during the days that CNG isn’t available, meaning three days a week. This not only causes a great loss to the transporters themselves but the life of the people is also adversely affected.

Students face difficulty in getting to their educational institutions due to the unavailability of transport. School and office staff that use public transport arrive late at schools and offices respectively. The same is the case with small-scale-businesses and traders.

Due to CNG load-shedding, the business of small-scale traders is also affected badly.

The government should deal with this issue.

THERE is almost no gas in Gulshan-i-Hazrat Bilal, Sector 9-C, Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi. The reason is a problem of low pressure and shortfall of gas. As a result economic and household activities are badly affected. Housewives in particular are facing a lot of difficulties.

Despite several complaints the relevant authorities have failed to address the issue.

If the situation does not improve soon, people may be forced to take to the streets, leading to disturbances and violence.

The government should take heed and provide gas to the people of the locality as soon as possible.
