KARACHI: Two young men, who looked Pakhtun or Afghan from their appearance, were found shot dead in Korangi Industrial Area on Thursday morning, officials said, adding that it necessarily did not mean they were suspected militants or Taliban.

The police added that the trussed-up bodies were found at a roadside garbage dump in Allahwala Town.

The police officer said it appeared that they were kidnapped and gunned down somewhere and later on their bodies were dumped there in the night because no cartridges were found at the crime scene.

Both victims aged between 22 and 24 years sustained multiple bullet wounds on different parts of their bodies, the police added.

“From their looks, they seem to be Afghan or Pakhtun,” Landhi SP Akhtar Farooq said. They sported beards. However, the officer hastened to add, it did not mean that they were militants or Taliban.

“We are clueless as to who are they and where they were killed before their bodies were dumped here,” said the officer.

The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Later on they were taken to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification.

Two killed in ‘encounter’

Two alleged robbers were shot dead in an ‘encounter’ in Sohrab Goth, the police said on Thursday.

They added that the police received information on Madadgar-15 that two robbers were looting labourers, who were on their way to New Sabzimandi on the Superhighway near Ganna Mandi at around 3.45am.

As a police party reached there, the alleged robbers opened fire on the police upon which the police returned fire and wounded both the suspects. The wounded suspects were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival, the police added.
