PESHAWAR: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) trainer Mirage aircraft crashed a few kilometers away from D.I. Khan Wednesday afternoon, killing both the pilot and the co-pilot.
The aircraft, which was on a training flight, may have crashed due to lightening and rain in the area, according to police officials. The exact location of the crash has been determined as Miran, which is around 80 kilometers from D.I. Khan.
Army and PAF rescue teams have surrounded the crash site and are searching for bodies of the pilots.

It is time to retire Mirage and induct more JF17 thunders. We have lost precious pilots in accidents because we are still flying these. They're old hand have no more hours left on the air frames

Air worthiness of F-7s and Mirages should be re-considered. We cannot lose our pilots like this.
May the fallen get the best in their next abode, and may their families bear this loss with patience and forbearance.

Last 5 crashes ,India has not lost a single pilot.
Whereas Pakistani has lost atleast 6 pilots in last 5 crashes in the same time frame. They need to do something for the safety of pilots, because pilots are priceless

@jhon Do you know Indian airforce is worse in the world as we come to competence, skills and performance of the pilots. They lost half of their fighters just in crashing. Do listen your ex-defense minister A.K.antoney,s remarks in Lok Saba. Reed BBC,s report on your pilots poor performance.

I continue to be amazed by the dedication of our Air Force Pilots. When ejecting is only a button away they prefer to sacrifice their lives rather than cause any collateral damage, or be known as someone who "bailed out" on a multi-million dollar plane.
I wish our pilots all the best, with men like that our enemies don't stand a chance!!!

In INDIA too we see this sort of crashes very now and then. So its high time to check and scrap the out dated planes. You cannot keep the lives of pilots at stake.

Both countries have lost more planes during peace times than in wars. MIGs' are known as flying coffin and are notorious for crashing. Need constant maintenance compared to planes from the West. One of the reason Russian passenger planes are not popular in any other country. Russians make big plans and powerful engines and unless taken very good care don't last long

While the (in)competence of some to comment on this issue is there for all to see when they either cannot read or simply do not know that the Mirage is a French aircraft, not Chinese, it also behoves newspapers such as Dawn to match an illustrative photo with the aircraft mentioned in the story!

@Khurram the ans is simple my friend , if you are trained well you would know when to bail out.By not bailing out you are wasting precious money which was used for your training and in way of compensation to the surviving family.
