KARACHI: A suspected gangster was shot dead in an ‘encounter’ jointly carried out by Rangers and the police in Chakiwara area of Lyari in early hours of Tuesday, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers conducted a targeted raid in Bihar Colony where they came under an attack by suspected gangsters and during the exchange of fire a suspect identified as Saifullah was gunned down, officials said.

His three alleged accomplices identified as Sohail; Sikander, alias Siku; and Shirin, alias Paratha, managed to escape, said Chakiwara SHO Yasin Gujjar.

The deceased was said to be a member of the Baba Ladla gang allegedly involved in several murder cases, the officer said.
