PAKISTAN is engulfed in an unprecedented crisis owing to poor governance, the worsening law and order, absence of a strong and honest leadership, massive corruption, a deteriorating economy and tensions on the borders.

The public is aspiring for a quick resolution of the crisis before anarchy sets in and reaches a point of no return.

The masses abhor the political system which exists in Pakistan today since it serves the elite. They detest the political leadership for bad governance and have lost faith in the political leaders’ capability to deliver.

People fondly remember the Musharraf era as it gave political stability to Pakistan, a strong and honest leadership, the economic upswing, freeing of the media by allowing numerous TV channels on air and astute diplomacy with neighbouring India.

THE Indian Supreme Court found N. Srinivasan guilty of a conflict of interest for having commercial dealings in sports by owning an Indian Premier League franchise while being head of the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).

He has been told to give up his business interest in cricket if he wants to head the BCCI. May I ask if any such judicial scrutiny has ever taken place in Pakistan regarding business interests of our presidents, prime ministers, chief ministers, federal ministers, provincial ministers and other public office-holders?
