TOBA TEK SINGH: District and Sessions Court Judge Ghaffar Jalil handed down on Thursday death sentence to Muhammad Sanam, of Chak 361-GB, and life term to Shazia Bibi, of Chak 327-GB, for killing Muhammad Ashraf, husband of convict Shazia, two years ago.

According to the prosecution, both Sanam and Shazia had an affair and killed Ashraf.

The judge further ordered convict Sanam to pay Rs100,000 to heirs of Ashraf and also ordered Shazia to pay Rs50,000 to the heirs.

The judge also handed down death sentence in another murder case to Muzammal Husain, of Chak 301-GB, for killing his wife Tahira Bibi one year ago.

The court ordered convict Muzammal to pay Rs300,000 as compensation to the heirs of wife Tahira Bibi.

In a sodomy case, the court sentenced 10 year imprisonment to Azhar, of Chak 380-JB, for committing sodomy with a minor boy of his village. The court also ordered him to pay Rs50,000 each to complainant of the case and the affected boy.

EMBROIDERY: Punjab Governor’s wife Begum Parveen Sarwar said on Thursday the Punjab government would set up more embroidery centres in the district.

She said this at the district industrial home. She said embroidery work being done in the industrial home was of high quality and more women should come forward to provide the market best embroidery work.
