KHAIRPUR: At least 30 people were injured when a Moro-bound bus carrying a wedding party on Saturday overturned near the Theri bypass, the place when an accident claimed 57 lives on Nov 11.

Initial reports about the latest accident suggested that the bus carrying 40 people belonging to two communities had started its journey from Jhatpat town. Police said it overturned after its tie-rod broke at Pir Mangio locality near the Theri bypass. The injured victims included the bridegroom, Mohammed Zaman, and 12 women and children.

All victims were taken to the Khairpur Civil Hospital and discharged after being provided first aid.

A litter after the accident, a passenger van coming from Ghouspur town and carrying intending participants of a mela in Kandiaro town overturned near the pass.

Nine injured victims, all male, were taken to the Khairpur hospital and discharged after treatment, police said.
