Saad Haroon shortlisted for World’s Funniest Person competition

Pakistani standup comedian, Saad Haroon is among the 10 semifinalists for the World’s Funniest Person competition.

Dressed in a sherwani, Saad received the trophy for making it to the semifinals. He also tweeted, requesting his fans to vote online for him to make it to the finals:

The competition has been organised by the venerable Hollywood nightclub The Laugh Factory owned by Jamie Masada.

The club aims at finding the best comedians from all corners of the globe and had shortlisted 20 contestants from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Chile, South Africa, Spain, Finland, France among others.

According to laughfactory.com, five finalists will be shortlisted from the 10 semifinalists on the basis of online voting and will perform in the final round in Las Vegas on October 24, which marks the United Nations Day.

The winner will be determined by a worldwide vote from an online audience and the Grand Prize Winner will receive $10,000 and a paid nationwide US comedy tour.

Saad Haroon is a well-known standup comedian who created Pakistan’s first improvisional comedy troupe called Blackfish. He is the creator a popular video sketch called 'Burka Woman', and has performed internationally as well.
