KOHAT: A policeman, who was injured during an encounter with outlaws on Saturday night, succumbed to injuries in hospital, while body of a miscreant was also recovered from the encounter site on Sunday.

The police also arrested 15 persons, including five outlaws, during the action carried out in Kamardhand and Surgul mountains on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

The deceased constable was named Jehangir Khan, while the outlaw Ibrar Khan.

Police said that Ibrar had recently been released from jail after serving sentence in a double murder case. But, he had taken shelter with other criminals in Kamardhand and Surgul mountains.

The police said that the raid was carried out to arrest about 25 outlaws belonging to Zareen Mohammad alias Daddi group who had taken shelter in three hideouts in the mountains. The action was put off on Saturday morning after no one could be arrested.

However, the police again launched the action on the night between Saturday and Sunday and arrested five outlaws and 15 others for sheltering them.

Personnel of the Frontier Reserve Police, Elite Force and all the police stations of Kohat took part in the action.

A machine gun, three rifles and a shotgun were also recovered from the arrested persons.
