ISLAMABAD: The Secretariat police on Monday registered a case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and eight others on charges of murder, attempt to murder and terrorism over the alleged killing of three political activists on August 30.

The FIR comes days after an additional sessions judge ordered the Secretariat police to register the case against the 11 while disposing of a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

PTI had approached the Secretariat police station to register an FIR on the matter against Nawaz, Shahbaz, Nisar, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, IG Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, IG Railways and three others over the August 30 incident that led to the deaths of three people during the protests by PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the federal capital.

PTI had filed the request days after the August 30 violence but following the police’s failure to register a case, the party had approached the sessions court under clause 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) for redress.

The night of August 30 saw violence during the protests led by PTI and PAT in Islamabad against the government of Nawaz Sharif which they call the outcome of a rigged election. The capital city’s high security area, the Red Zone, resembled a battlefield at the time as marchers from the PTI and PAT, en route to the Prime Minister’s House clashed with security personnel.

The irresistible march of history is against Nawaz. It wants to leave him behind but as he insists on standing up to it, he will simply be swept away. He still has time to desist and step aside. Otherwise, it wont be pretty.

Pathetic situation created by these IK & TuQ. For no reason making NS a hero of democracy.. However an internal setup among IK, TuQ, AZ & NS cannot be ruled out as well…. This keeps the Khakies forcefully away of the best they always do…..

the very flaws in our laws and constitution imran/qadri talk about, is what they end up holding on to.............without any credible or compelling evidence, one could walk in to a police station and nominate anyone in a FIR........the stupid judges and police just put resources in to a wasteful effort, with cases pending for years and costing the economy........no country in the world has such a pathetic system in place.........any heinous charge could be laid over an innocent person including rape and so.......disgusting as it appears.

IK strategy to take on all beneficiaries of status quo frontly & simultaneously is flawless & well thought out,if any one of these is left out,that will be damaging to very vision of new Pakistan.Absolute success of Lahore Dharna,leaves no doubt in anybody mind that change has become inevitable.Credit for this squarely goes to IK,very well done IK to break stalemated situation.

Shareefs some how got stuck in past, they must be thinking that life starts again from where they left i.e. October 1999. Its been almost 15 years, they must let it go, instead they are doing typical Politics of 90s, of either buying the opponents or taking revenge. The latest statement of Nawaz from London claiming to do even a bigger jalsa than PTI at Minaar-e-Pakistan is an indication that they refused to learn from past. Unfortunately, nature has it own ways, good or bad for them? only time will tell.

Good to know that the Naya Pakistan movement is making realise the important institutions like judiciary and Police to take the just and fair decisions and FIR against the sitting PM and his cabinet members is the right decision as they need to be made responsible for their wrong actions.

So our eminent judges are for filing an FIR for murder against the most senior members of the administration and for what? The killing of 3 rioters who clashed with the police when mobs were trying to ransack Parliament itself and PTV offices. Have they heard about the scores of missing persons and extra-judicial murders in our beloved Balochistan? I am Punjabi but outraged at these double standards.

There should be cases against IK & TUQ.... They incited their workers to enter the red zone and attack state symbols...after written guarantees not to do so. They were allowed to protest and still are but were warned of serious consequences if they crossed into the red zone. No country allows anyone to attack state symbols these thugs cant do these things in Canada or England. Even in the US there are snipers atop of white house and capital that will shoot anyone attacking these buildings. These coward leaders that hide behind wome & children in their containers while they send their workers to die should b held responsible.

@The Slayer , My friend, if you think PAT and PTI workers enter and destroyed PTV setup, I m sure we have camera footage, who is stopping us from taking them to justice? I will be happy regardless of my support for PTI to justice be served regardless of perpetrators were members of PAt, PTI or anyone else. Keyword is Justice not favoritism.

Really shocking news. If every PM be booked for FIR against dispersing mob then this country is best fitted to be ruled by Taliban. Everybody knows that Govt. showed its utmost patience against miscreants of PTI and PAT. Tomorrow same practice be repeated against Imaran, Zardari or whatsoever. Really bad.

The mob is trying to ransack the parliament and march towards the Pm house! It is the duty of law enforcement officials to maintain the law. Obviously, in situations like that, there will be clashes and unfortunate loss of life. Filing FIR against top officials is pathetic. All this so called marchers are simply looking for face saving as it has been nothing but waste of time and inconvenience to the whole nation.

@ danish Study the democracy of india. Nehru-Gandhi dynasty rule their for 40 years. They had PM and ministers of the same familybut they never said their democracy is worst then Taliban. They continued their system and now they have a government of ordinary people.

@Sara Y What further evidence do you want when the eye of the camera showed the police killing unarmed civilians for approximately 8 hours in Model Town with CM Punjab not knowing or not being able to do anything about stopping those killings. What further proof do you want when a report published on ECP's own website claimed that there were very serious flaws in the elections. Indeed, they won't admit that the faulty election was their fault because that would be like committing suicide but for a man with a little intellect and sense these are not only poofs enough for registering FIRs but also for conviction!!

mira@ Change is dynamic and comes slowly and gradually. sudden change also comes through revolution or by election. IK is in favour of sudden change which is impossible in the current scenario. People also rejected Qadri for his intention to brin sudden change as revolution in my mind is some thing else. Imran should wait for next general election now. He has a time and govt in KP so may start his political compaighn from today and may easily change people.s mind against this rigged system and towards his party manifesto.

@Sudhakar You and specially people like you are made to watch what your government wants you to see and believe. The situation here in USA is quite different, India has already lost the textile market to the South Asian and South East Asian countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal and even Pakistan's products are far more better and much more in demand as compared to Indian textile products. As far as food and related products are concerned, the consumers are limited to Indians only. As far as the diplomatic welcome or protocol is concerned it all depends on the particular country's relations with the host country and as such The Afghan President got the warmest welcome. About your claim for 1.2 Billion people behind Modi. Yes they are and they have already started chasing him out of his office. Riots in Gujarat and tension in UP and Punjab is not hidden from the outside world.

One thing is clear, Nawaz Sharif should resign. Whether PTI revolution was jali or not. He invalidated himself by all the events that occured under his authority and command. I've been a stern critic of the March. Opposed it even, but deaths must be addressed and we all know who is to blame. Ignoring this, and 'championing democracy', please. Resign.
