LAHORE: The PML-Q has denied having knowledge of any meeting between Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan in London.

The denial was issued by party’s Information Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha here on Thursday.

He was apparently responding to the allegations leveled by the PML-N that the leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek hatched a plan to stage sit-ins in Islamabad in a meeting held in London.

“Our meetings with Dr Qadri in London were held according to already finalised schedule during which no mention of PTI chairman Imran Khan was ever made. There was also no scheduled meeting of Chaudhry Shujaat Husain and Pervaiz Elahi with Imran Khan in London,”

He said it was not in the knowledge of Chaudhry brothers that Dr Qadri and Mr Khan had met in London.

“Dr Qadri had come to Dorchester Restaurant for a dinner on the invitation of Chaudhry brothers. Neither Imran Khan was there nor he was invited,” Mr Agha said.

Resolution

The PML-Q has submitted a resolution to the Punjab Assembly seeking waiver of power bills of the flood-hit people.

Submitted by MPA Khudija Umer Farooqi on Thursday, the motion says at least 1.8 million people have been badly affected by recent floods in the province.

It demands the provincial house recommend to the federal government to waive the electricity bills of the affected people.

The mover sarcastically told reporters on the occasion that those who escaped unhurt from the floods were ‘inundated’ by power bill amounts as not only the tariff had been doubled but consumers were also complaining of over-billing.
