DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A local commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed in an encounter at Kulachi tehsil here on Sunday, police said.

They said that following a tip-off the Kulachi police raided a hideout at Luni area where local Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan commander Salim Shah opened fire at them.

The police also retaliated and as a result the alleged Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan commander, who had been wanted in several cases, was killed on the spot.

The police said that Shah’s other accomplices escaped, leaving behind arms and ammunition.

In Peshawar, unidentified terrorists killed a prayer leader and policeman on Sunday.


Prayer leader, cop shot dead in Peshawar


The prayer leader was shot dead in the limits of Nasir Bagh police station. According to a police official, the victim, Javaid Khan, was prayer leader at a local mosque of Frontier Constabulary.

He said that Mr Javaid was on way from the mosque to home on his motorcycle when he came under attack.

He was taken to a local hospital, but did not survive. A case has been registered against unknown terrorists at Nasir Bagh police station.

In another case, a policeman was killed in an encounter near Spina Chowki on Kohat Road when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on a police post.

The name of the victim could not be ascertained.

Meanwhile, unidentified terrorists exploded a bomb outside the residence of a businessman in Murshidabad, Peshawar. Police said that improvised explosive device had been planted outside the main gate of the house of one Haji Izat Khan, which went off in the morning.

No one was hurt in the blast though it partly damaged the house.

An official of Yakatoot police said that a case had been registered against unidentified terrorists.

He said that according to the complainant he had no enmity with anyone.

However, the case seems to be one of extortion, said the official.
