LARKANA: Doctors and paramedics serving in the Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiatives (PPHI), Qambar-Shahdadkot district, staged a protest demonstration outside the Larakana press club on Saturday over police failure to recover their colleague kidnapped about a month ago.

Led by Dr Noor Ahmed Memon, Dr Mehboob Chandio, Roshan Ali Mughiri and others, the protesters carrying banners and placards raised slogans against police. The leaders told the media that Dr Farid Khuhawar, posted at the Khando basic health centre, was kidnapped while he was performing his official duty. They regretted that the police failed to make any progress in recovering the doctor which had increased unrest and heightened the sense of insecurity among the medical fraternity. They warned to broaden the protest if immediate measures were not taken to trace him.
