KOHAT: Unknown assailants shot dead five members of a family in Alizai area here on Friday.

The Ustarzai police said that one Fida Hussain informed them that he was in Marai Mitha Khan when he received information that the family of his brother had been killed in their house.

He said that he rushed to his brother’s house and found the bodies of his brother Hashim Khan, wife Shashima, son Aamir, 13, and daughters Fauzia, 20, and Saadia, 17, in a pool of blood at the roof of their house. He said that all of them were killed by firing with Kalashnikovs and had multiple bullet wounds on their bodies. They were later laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard in Alizai.

Mr Hussain told the police that they had no enmity with anyone and did not know who was behind the brutal act. The preliminary report of the police said that killings looked to be the handiwork of a group and not one or two persons.

An official of Ustarzai police station said that they were working on one aspect in which a man outside the family had alleged illicit relations with a girl in the victim family.

The Ustarzai police, however, registered the case against unknown killers and have launched investigations.
