MANSEHRA: Four robbers were arrested after they fired at and injured a tourist in Naran early on Wednesday, police said.

“We have arrested four robbers, who fired at a tourist, who resisted them during a robbery attempt at night in Naran,” Shahnawaz Khan, the station house office of Kaghan, told journalists.

He said that the arrested persons were identified as Gul Mohammad, Khazain Khan and Abudl Rehman, residents of Kamial Kohistan, and Israfeel, a resident of Chitral.

The SHO said that the robbers sneaked in the tent of tourists in Naran and looted them at gunpoint. They were decamping with the looted cash and valuables when a tourist from the adjacent tent suddenly showed up and resisted them.

Mr Khan said that the robbers fired at the tourist identified as Azzat Khan, a resident of Bannu. He said that the tourist received bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad. He said that the condition of the injured tourist was out of danger.

“At the meantime the other tourists overpowered one of the robbers and we took him to police station,” the SHO said. He added that they arrested three other accomplices of the robber on Wednesday.

Mr Khan said that Gul Mohammad, the ringleader of the robbers, had killed his mother last year in Baffa area and was also wanted in that case. He said that according to preliminary investigations, the group was wanted in many robberies in different districts.
