KARACHI: Two men were shot dead in a suspected sectarian attack in Liaquatabad area on Tuesday night, according to police.

They said Ashraf, 50, and Hameed, 30, were sitting at their hair dresser shop in F.C. Area when four suspects riding on two motorcycles opened fire on them and fled. The wounded men were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.

“The victims were uncle and nephew, belonging to Shia community and it was an act of sectarian killing,” said a spokesperson for Majlis-i-Wahadatul Muslimeen.

He said over a dozen members of Shia community had been targeted during the past one month in the F.C. Area of Liaquatabad.

The MWM spokesperson believed that after Nazimabad and Gol Market, the Liaquatabad’s F.C. Area was another sensitive locality where members of Shia community were being constantly targeted. He said the government had failed to stop killing of Shias.
