SUKKUR: A man and his nephew were gunned down on Wednesday apparently in retaliation for their alleged involvement in a murder that had taken place about a month back.

Armed men fired at Naseem Shaikh, 25, his nephew, Faraz Shaikh, 18, and another relative, Mohammad Ali, 12, in the Regent area of Sukkur city within the remit of the C-Section police station.

Faraz Shaikh died on the spot and Naseem Shaikh and Mohammad Ali were rushed to the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, but Naseem Shaikh succumbed to his wounds on the way.

The victims’ relatives, led by Shafiq Shaikh, the brother of Naseem Shaikh, told the media that about a month ago, a member of the Abbasi community, Akhtar Abbasi, had been killed by assailants and the murder was blamed on Naseem Shaikh and his family members. They said Naseem, along with four other persons, was arrested and eventually released on bail.

They alleged that some members of the Abbasi community targeted him in the Wednesday armed attack.
