OKARA: One dacoit was killed while another injured during a dacoity in the house of a trader in Aamir Colony on Sunday night.

District Police Officer Babar Bakhat Qureshi told the media on Monday that three armed men forcibly entered the house of Umar Farooq and made hostage family members at gunpoint. Later their four accomplices also entered the house by scaling the boundary wall.

The dacoits started collecting valuables including cash, mobile phones and gold ornaments. In the meantime, a family member informed police by phone.

City A-Division and B-Division patrol police, led by SHO Malik Tasawwar and inspector Javaid Khan, rushed to the spot.

When the dacoits came to know that the police had encircled the house, they opened fire. In the crossfire one of the dacoits, identified as Hafiz Ishtiaq, was killed while another injured. Injured Adnan was arrested and admitted to DHQ Hospital.

The police claimed that Ishtiaq fell victim to the firing of his accomplice.

Later police arrested their accomplices Irfan, Asif and Khurram Javaid.
