BAHAWALPUR: District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Rashid Qamar has ordered the local administration to immediately close down illegal blood banks in the city and take legal action against their owners.

He issued the orders while presiding over a monthly meeting of the district criminal justice coordination committee here on Wednesday.

The D&SJ also directed to take action against the youths involved in doing one-wheelie and register cases against them under non-bailable offence.

Police officers informed the meeting that some 50 constables were being inducted to streamline the vehicular traffic in the city.

The judge asked the city TMO to remove encroachments from local bazaars and roads to ease the flow of traffic for the convenience of people doing Eid shopping.

DISMISSED: The election tribunal headed by retired district and sessions judge Chaudhry Abdul Hafiz the other day dismissed an election petition of Muhammad Aslam against MPA Raees Mahboob Ahmad of PP-29 (Rahim Yar Khan district).

Petitioner Muhammad Aslam of the PPP had filed an election petition against PML-N MPA Raees Mahboob Ahmed with allegations of fake degree and the non-payment of income tax. But the petitioner could not prove his allegations and the tribunal rejected his petition.

Meanwhile, the election tribunal adjourned the hearing of an election petition of PML-N’s Makhdum Ahmed Alam Anwar against PPP MNA Khwaja Qutubuddin of NA-192 (Liaquatpur tehsil of Rahim Yar Khan district).
