KARACHI: The Sindh Bachayo Committee (SBC) has requested members of the Sindh Assembly to summon a special session of the assembly to discuss different aspects of the grave consequences of the influx of outsiders including internally displaced persons from North Waziristan for Sindh.

The SBC chief Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah said in a letter addressed to the members of the assembly including the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition, that they should adopt a unanimous resolution after thorough discussion on impact of increasing population of aliens in Sindh, demanding the federal government restrict temporary settlement of IDPs to the areas nearest to their native land.

It was necessary to save Sindh from religious extremism and terrorism, avoid clash of cultural, social and economic interests and use Sindh’s resources on the development and prosperity of the people of the province, said the letter.

The letter pointed out that because of insufficient arrangements and flawed policies of the federal government the IDPs were taking shelter in different parts of the country and a number of terrorists and extremists had infiltrated into Sindh in the garb of IDPs who were causing serious problems.

In addition, the increase in the population of outsiders was not only creating an imbalance in the population but the sons of the soil also feared it would deprive Sindhis of their right to rule their land.

The letter criticised what it described as unconcerned attitude of the assembly and its members said the SBC hoped the members would no longer remain silent and unconcerned on such a grave issue confronting Sindh and play their democratic role to protect rights of Sindh and Sindhi people.
