until our police is streamlined these red blue orange alerts will not help... terrorist will always find a sweet spot to strike.. police is our first line of defense because these are the guys who knows community well..they can identify the unusual activities in an area; once first line of defense is compromised then its easy for terrorist to penetrate.. Army is not a solution of every problem... soldier is trained for combat only... prevention is better than patrolling; we are champion of superficial show of alertness after every incident... everyone is celebrating the successful operation ... it seems they have busted the plan even before doing any damage.. I have sympathy to those and their families who valiantly fought and died but someone should be held accountable rather than celebrating the successful operation!

it is too late for being alert... one must always be alert all the time to avoid the tragedy...life does not have an undo button..Great effort is required to arrest decay and restore vigor. One must exercise proper deliberation, plan carefully before making a move, and be alert in guarding against relapse following a renaissance.

If only our forces were on alert at all times, these situations would never arise!

The Ranger's soldier is shown with a machine gun strapped with a rope to the roof of a vehicle. How could he respond if there is a firefight as he cannot traverse his gun to any other direction except front. This speaks standard of professionalism which is a big question mark on mental capacity of LEA to combat terrorism. There must be minimum 10 soldiers of a section strength around him witnessing his preparedness and no one objected to it. If the best soldiers were sent to the airport then think the quality of others sitting in their barracks. One must not blame TTP's dare actions, fault lies within.

@tankNZ - Hopefully some good will still come from this. It's a wakeup call for the government to take security more seriously. Not every Pakistani citizen can afford to have a bodyguard of their own.

50-60 % police is for the VIP protocol. and I dont know how our ISI is number intelligence agency. They are attacking a nd challenging our sovereignty. We made press conference after every clearance operation and says that we have killed militants. for God sake..those militants knows it too that they will die martured or suicide. But they achieve their target.Totally collapse of intelligence and defence.

What are "Temporary Passes"? Seems like a security risk to me!

There have been numerous attacks on important places in the past. I wonder why the government did not put all such places on high alert then. That proves our governement is not a self starter.

Wish they have deployed enough security already . Now , when they have deployed more security , i wish its not for few days only.

@ahmedj I think your point if view is very limited because it is based on one picture. This soldier is in a bunker position and look at the size of his gun. I am sure they have put him in a place where his back is secured and he is pointing towards a likely infiltration point. There are hundreds of targets for terrorists to attack. Even if it is known that they will attack a certain place it is hard to know the "when" aspect. This is an advantage they will always have over the security forces. Because security forces are not guarding a well defined border (country borders or frontiers for instance); they are fighting an enemy that has many targets well within the heart of our country and they always sneak attack. I think ASF did it's part well. And it was a successful operation in the sense that it gauged the emergency preparedness of our defenses and if you see the response time it was near instant. Plus the coordination was superb even though just like you said the soldiers are not exactly trained for a situation like this. Those that died died a martyr because they died by the hands of cowards who attacked without warning and shot them sneankingly. ASF guards are brave put yourself in their shoes and think that you are standing guard in the dark of the night then suddenly a billet enters your body. There is no control how and where these cowards will attack. We as a nation have to stand united behind our guards, these poor guys don't know if they will return home in the morning.
