India treated Nawaz like a schoolboy, says Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was treated like a schoolboy in India, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives outside the Parliament House in the federal capital, Khan said that by not meeting representatives of the Hurriyat Conference in New Delhi, the prime minister had struck a bargain on Kashmir.

Khan questioned that if the premier could meet lead and cement traders in New Delhi, why couldn't he hold a meeting with those representing the Hurriyat Conference.

He said that a clerical mistake had taken the vote bank of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) from seven million in 2008 to 12.5 million in 2013.

Khan said issues were being run on stay orders for the past one year, adding that massive rigging had occurred in the 2013 election yet political leaders were hiding behind the guise of such orders.

The PTI chairman said several legal fora had been approached over the issue of rigging.

Separately, Khan said that President Mamnoon Hussain’s address to the joint sitting of the Parliament made no mention of minorities.

Khan said the war against terrorism had compounded the problem of extremism in the country, adding that the army had been pushed to fight in North Waziristan on US directives.

True Democracy, Educational and Economic Progress, for the most part, Minority being treated fairly, most of all increased Accountability of Government Servants. @Sara Y : Since we are facing democracy we have the same the politicians before and after but no leaders, so we should take the bug out from our mind that same peoples do the needful and set any examples, Elections are gone and army/media/ISI all are with the ruling party so Imran khan should wait for his turn in next elections. Because the game of musical chair and pulling legs of each other is taking Pakistan towards shameful and disrespectful nation as everyone is seeing the PCB.

Imaran should follow Modi's politics. He should first prove his caliber in KPK for at least five years and then seek vote from public. Modi didn't get vote of youth over night. He has to prove his credential for 12 years in Gujarat none stop. During his tenure he was / is grilled by every segment of Indian society and international community no one before interrogated. He proves his metal and then he gets majority. He always convert every problem in to an opportunity and comes out to be a leader. So have a patience and wait for your turn mean while prove your metal giving good governance to KPK.

Mid-term elections are not going to happen anyways despite mass protests no matter come what may, however, every one including myself has reservations over the election rigging issues. It has been more than a year after elections, and you will keep on protesting against the alleged rigging for five years therefore, there is no solution to this issue, we are not concerned with who won and who lost , we want jobs and security, why dont you address these issues? Moreover, you have been mandated with KPK Government, you should focus there , you should focus on issues which hold public interest and play your constructive role as an individual in the national assembly. I am an Indian. I see absolutely no minor victory in how Modi treated Nawaz Sharif. In fact, for the sake of NS, I really wish Modi's statement had been a bit more conciliatory. But Modi only conveyed legitimate concerns in a civil manner. He advertised this in order to highlight to his own citizens that he was doing his job and probably not to belittle NS. That NS chose to give a cotton candy statement is his own problem, but I'm pretty sure NS highlighted Pakistan's issues in the actual discussion. Anyway, the 2 countries have started to talk again. And that is a good thing. It is really funny how Indians and Pakistanis seem to want a love-hate relationship all the time. One small slight and it becomes "kill Pakistan, kill India". One small gesture and the narrative becomes like "OMG we are brothers from the same mother. How can we even think of harming each other!". I think Modi and NS's pragmatic approach is much better for actually dealing with problems and avoiding a constantly bipolar relationship. At least, I hope it does.

Modi gave Nawaz the respect by inviting him to the swearing ceremony in the first place & then respected Nawaz again by being a good host & meeting with him & being cordial towards. Imran is just trying to politicize the issue by making something out of nothing. And from what my Pakistani friends tell me, he isn't exactly doing a good job in the province which elected his party.

Thank you Imran Khan for fighting for all of our votes. Rigging elections is the biggest crime in a democracy. We need to get this fundamental pillar right and only then we can have democracy. You can vote for PML, PPP or PTI but we should all have the comfort that our vote is counted the right way. Even if one vote is added incorrectly that nullifies your vote. We should all support Imran in fixing the corrupt Election Commission.

I agree with only one part of IK's statement. Mian Sahib should not have spurned the Kashmiri leaders. This will dampen their zeal for the freedom struggle at a time they can ill afford it. I just want to include my views as citizen of Pakistan, Imran Khan had high status among the intellectuals and the masses but since his constant Nawaz targeting and inviting PM to start verbal battles with his PTI, at least the intellectuals have lost faith in IK. On top I saw 2013 elections as a clear win for PTI, from zero seats to 34 seats in parliament is not a small task but what has been done after that. Instead of making KPK a role model government for rest of the provinces, we are seeing countless anti-government movements, allegations and no solutions. On top his combine schoolboyish attitude has cost us Polio blacklist, TTP gaining moral grounds and federal government in a seesaw ride. My 2 cent advice is to please focus on issues and make the best with what you have instead crying wolf.

have got lot of Pakistani friends mostly from Karachi and Lahore. The common people of Pakistan and India want a peace - a permanent peace. We do not want a fight. India and Pakistan should be a free country like Europe enabling to travel without visa. We want a free trade. That will help to prosper both countries. If this barrier of visa is over - I mean free travelling both countries, other issue is simple and easily solved. Other things Indians and Pakistanis heritage are one - I mean their forefathers were bonded together with same group of people and culture. This man is trying to find a mistake in Pakistan Prime Minister trip to India - but lot of merit therein, which please do not forget.

I supported Imran Khan and still support him because I believe he is sincere and he did not build empire like PML-N and PPP people but my deal IK please gain some maturity. Making this kind of statement wont get you anywhere... You dont need to get into mud throwing, you have your own unique status and thats why people love you. Keep your identity and stay out this tu tu mein mein.

IK is emerging as a true leader but we have to be careful because we do not want to create leaders as much as the system that creates the leader. Without grass root democracy ( local bodies ) there cannot be true democracy. The nation is being plundered in the name of democracy

What do you expect. Indian PM. was dressed in his native clothes, his mother went to vote in a Rickshaw, he lives alone in the palatial PM's house in Delhi. His brother, or son-in-law or son are not part of the government . you decide how should Pakistani leaders be treated .

@Ahmed Yes you are right, NS has just tried to sell the steal and cement of Pakistan from his factories to India. A big service to Pakistan. He is already making money for Pakistan by selling sugar from his nephew's mills. We need a prime minister like him for the next 10-20 years. Hopefully by that time Pakistan will looks like Bhutan and become a good friend of India. Congratulations on the achievements of NS and N-league. Many thanks from all the Paki's.

I support Imran Khan but would confess one thing. My support for Imran is only because Nawaz and Zardari are worst. Imran is not an ideal leader at all as he lacks intellectual approach. He has no plans for anything. His only answer to problem is, we will finish corruption and collect more tax. Is it enough? not at all. A leader needs vision which he doesn't have.

@Salma To use all the development funds of KPK fast, PTI should start building Cement factories, sugar mills and steal mills for IK and his family and earn commission on them. That is the way how funds are being over-spent in Punjab to build factories for Hamza Sharif. PTI is not as wise as him.

For once, I have to say that Imran Khan is wrong.Mian Nawaz Shariff was THE MOST IMPORTANT OF OUR GUESTS at the Modi Inaugural ceremony. In a brief meeting of fifty minutes,the time was devoted to knowing each other,and no substantive issues could be discussed ,as even Modi was not briefed on the topic due to paucity of time.The two leaders can always meet again in New Delhi as well as Rawalpindi.The important thing now is not to raise the contentious issues like Kashmir,but agree on points of common interest,and,at least make a small beginning in implementing the non -controversial issues of common interest.With so much violence going on in Pakistan,maybe we could agree to discuss Kashmir at a more opportune time.Tme to start with Trade & Cricket.

He is failed to comprehend the nuances of international diplomacy.Did you expect NS to solve the kashmir issue with that short visit or hurriyat leaders would have helped you to solve it at once.Grow up IK. Every person has a right to choose. Some choose traditional, tried and tested while others choose something new. Some choose the option with instant ROI, while others choose the slow and steady path. Some don't care whether its wrong or right, they just want to go with the flow - others want the new norm to be the truth, no matter how long they have to wait for that. Some don't know what struggle is while for others, struggle is the only option. The path of the latter group of people is the hardest. But as long as they stay steadfast, their perseverance will eventually pay off. This is not just me saying this - religions teach us this and it has also been proven time and again throughout history.

Nawaz Sharif was not representing the United Stated in India so he might be the blue-eyed there. Let our rulers realize how much respect they have abroad as representatives of Pakistan. Let them realize that their respect is directly proportional to the respect of their country. Be it any other leader, Indians would treat him the same so Nawaz Sharif can not be singled out. The outcome of the visit is as expected so Imran should not make non-issue a issue. The thing to regret is not why Nawaz visited India, it is why we are treated unfairly. And the answer is, "Might has the right." So, stop complaining and shouting and focus on the development of Pakistan.

I am a staunch supporter of PTI and will remain so as long as they remain sincere and committed to the path of democracy ---- which they have so far. However the statement by Imran Khan about Nawaz Sharif's India visit was inappropriate and ill-timed. On the KPK front however, PTI has done a lot more than the press is portraying.
