SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf vice-president Asad Umer said on Sunday that there was need of a strong determination and relentless efforts to enrol about 25 million out of school children to secure their future.

He was speaking at the optics convention at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology here.

The society should play its role in educating these children because they belonged to Pakistan were future of the country, he said.

“Every fourth out of school child across the world belongs to Pakistan,” he remarked.

Mr Umer called for introducing reforms in education sector and doing away with the class-based education system. “There are separate schools for the children of elite, middle and poor sections of society, which is impeding development and progress,” he said.

However, he said that the academia had a role to play in helping the government to bring about reforms in the education sector.

He said the GIK Institute had been playing a crucial role in imparting quality education to students, and asked other institutions of higher education to follow the GIK Institute.

He said every Pakistani had to put in efforts to change the destiny of their country. He said those wanting to bring change through use of brute force were only defaming Pakistan.

He said youth were the agents of change and asked them to focus on their education.
