SWABI: At least seven people were killed and six others wounded on Friday when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a vehicle in Swabi's Yar Hussain region.

The deceased and the injured in the attack all belonged to the same family.

Station House Officer (SHO) Aijaz Khan confirmed the number of deaths in the incident.

He added that these people were going from Swabi to Peshawar airport in order to bid farewell to a relative who was leaving for Saudi Arabia before the attack occurred.

The victims included women, children and also the relative who was leaving for Saudi Arabia.

Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident and began shifting the victims to a nearby hospital.

In another incident in Swabi’s Kalu Khan area, three people including two brothers died as a result of an old enmity between the two families when they opened fire on each other.

SHO Kalu Khan police station Haroon Khan told that the incident was the result of an old enmity and three people died on the spot during the exchange of fire between the two groups.
