KARAK: Residents of Orbashi and adjoining localities held a protest demonstration outside the office of the deputy commissioner here on Thursday against the shortage of staff in the lone government boys’ middle school of the areas.

The protesters threatened to close the school if the district education office didn’t provide staff forthwith.

The protesters, led by office bearers of Social Qaumi Committee, held placards inscribed slogans in favour of their demands. They marched from Baz Mohammad chowk to the offices of the district administration and staged a sit-in outside the office of the deputy commissioner Aqal Badshah.

The protesters said that there was only one middle school in Orbashi area of the Guguri union council, but the posts of CT, drawing master, Arabic and other teachers had been lying vacant since long.

They said that the new session had already begun, but the education department had failed to appoint the required teachers to the school, as a result students’ precious time was being wasted.

The protesters said that millions of rupees were being generated through oil and gas exploration in Gurguri union council, but in return, the government had even failed to provide adequate education facilities to the children of poor people.

They said that if the district administration and education administration didn’t pay any heed to their demand then they would bring hundreds of people on roads in protest.

Later, the deputy commissioner Aqal Badshah directed the district education officer to appoint the teachers to the school as early as possible to remove the shortage of staff there.

POLICE DONATE BLOOD: The district police personnel donated blood to the Fathmeed Foundation at a blood camp organised at the DSP office here on Tuesday.

The district police officer Atiqullah Wazir has asked the police personnel to participate wholeheartedly in the blood donation campaign.

SHOs of different police stations also provided volunteers to the Fathmeed Foundation to participate in the welfare activities.
