ISLAMABAD: Considering the problems of rush and traffic jams at different avenues, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to construct slip roads on the main avenues.

The roads will be constructed by the machinery pool organization (MPO), which is a department of CDA, due to which no contract will be awarded and the roads will be constructed, on war footing, with the resources of CDA.

The chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, in his statement, said that the civic agency has to take effective measures to cope with the traffic jams at the busiest squares of the federal capital, and facilitate the citizens during rush hours.

“In first phase, the slip roads will be constructed at Aabpara Chowk, Ayub Chowk and Ataturk Avenue, because the traffic remains blocked there during rush hours. After completion of the construction, the traffic will move without any hassle, especially during rush hours,” he said.

Chairman CDA would visit the sites, on Monday, to examine the initiation of the construction work.

The chairman has directed the MPO to ensure the completion of the construction work within four weeks, and no delay would be tolerated in this regard.
