KARACHI: Pakistan and India can bring about an agriculture revolution in South Asia by following the US-Canadian cooperation model, said Canadian High Commissioner Greg Giokas on Tuesday.

He was addressing a meeting with industry leaders held at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

The high commissioner said that Pakistan and India should concentrate on agriculture products by adopting modern techniques. Instead of becoming competitors should complement each other, he said.

“Once increased cooperation in trade and cultural relations takes place between the two countries, they could also form a new trade bloc like elsewhere in the world,” he opined.

President All Karachi Industrial Alliance Mian Zahid Hussain said that the present government was working on improving relations between the two countries and the business communities on both sides were playing due role.

He further said that exchange of trade delegations and single country exhibition may be conducted to enhance cooperation in agriculture and industrial sectors.

Export of agriculture products between the two countries has increased by more than 100 per cent in the last five years, he said.
