DOHA: South Africa stamped their authority, registering a seven-wicket win against Pakistan in an inconsequential match of the PCB Qatar Women’s T20 Tri-series Tournament here on Wednesday night.

South Africa and Pakistan have already qualified for the tournament final to be staged here on Friday.

After thrashing Ireland, the third team in the event, by nine wickets, South Africa maintained the momentum in their second match of the day against Pakistan.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a modest 96 all out in 20 overs. Nahida Khan (33) top-scored for the side. Moseline Daniels captured three wickets while Shabnim Ismail and Sun Luus claimed two wickets each.

South Africa in their turn reached the target for the loss of only three wickets and five balls to spare. Skipper Mignon du Preez struck 38 while Lizelle Lee scored 30.

South Africa have lost only one match in the tournament and the teams form shows they are favourites to win Friday’s final.
