Attack on Karachi imambargah foiled

KARACHI: Security guards deputed at an imambargah near Karachi's Khalid bin Waleed Road foiled an attack as two explosive-laden women tried to enter the place of worship on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

One of the women was shot dead whereas the other was critically injured as the guards opened fire as when the burqa-clad women tried to force their way inside.

Security and rescue teams reached the site of incident and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.

Police officials later confirmed that both women were equipped with explosives.

Moreover, the husband of the explosive-laden women who was killed was taken into custody by authorities.

The body and the injured woman were shifted to a hospital where sources said both were related.

Sorry to disappoint you all but given incident is being misrepresented by media. Two maids had picked up a roadside parcel which exploded. This account is directly from a guy living in same street.

@Rambler: It was not Shahid Hayat or the Sindh Police, it was the private security guards who killed the suicide bombers.

This is not true there were no security guards there the imambargah is 3 streets away this is a residential area where the blast took place as this happened in my street so i dont know where did dawns news correspondents got this news from they should get there facts rite first!!!!!!

what a waste of life, how ruthless & hateful this ideology is that it has even plagued the women as well, I wonder at the amount of hatred & fanaticism of these women who went ahead with finishing their lives & many other people just because of a different faith. tragic

What a state of affairs....there are 3 different stories if we include the actual news article. This is the problem with us. We either give credit where it is not due or do not give credit where it is due. Primarily because no one nows the truth. Islamic republic of Pakistan! No one can tell truth.

This info is not correct. My mother lives on the same street. They were maids who picked up the bag thinking it had something in it. This happened 3 streets away from the Imambargah.

This news is totally wrong! This is my lane where the attack happened! Dawn news where did you even get that story from ? A maid got out of rikshaw and had bag that contained the bomb. She was trying to enter the building and the chokidar stopped her to question. Just than the bomb exploded. One more woman who was on the road got badly injured. The police, rangers and media came after the whole scene happened!!!

Suicide is "HARAM", people who kill innocent people or commit will never enter Jannat. Only Allah reserves the authority of giving life and death. Our prophet said, one Muslim's life or property is Haram for another Muslim. This is "Gunah e Kabira" thus this act has not forgiveness.

These acts should not be taking place, as Islam has no place for violence, it is a religion of peace. These people belong to Khawarij group.
