Hottest day in Larkana

Published June 5, 2003

LARKANA, June 4: Residents of Larkana braved the hottest day of the season as temperature rose to 50 degree Celsius in the district on Wednesday.

PIA flights (PK 540 and PK 541) from Karachi to Larkana and Larkana to Karachi were cancelled due to the high temperature.

The dry and hot weather forced the residents to stay at home and bazaars wore a desert look in the afternoon.

In many areas of the district, power supply remained disrupted or loadshedding continued intermittently.

Ice factory owners took full advantage of the heat and raised ice prices by more than 100 per cent.

The emergency ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital received five cases of fainting.

MINISTER: Federal Railways Minister Ghaus Bakhsh Mahar has said hard work is necessary to meet challenges of the modern world.

Speaking at a Seerat Conference at the Cadet College here the other day, he said students should work hard not only to pass examinations but also to gain knowledge.
