LOS ANGELES: Next year’s Grammys show will be held on January 26, 2014, earlier than usual because of the Winter Olympics in February, organizers of the music industry awards said Monday.

The move is in line with other awards shows which have shifted dates to avoid clashing with the Feb 6-23 Games in Sochi, Russia.

Organizers are keen to avoid competing for TV viewers. Grammy show ratings have consistently grown in recent years, with some 28.3 million viewers tuning in last year, the second largest since 1993.

In 2015, music’s biggest night will return to the more typical February 8 timeframe, Grammys organizers the Recording Academy noted.

Oscars organizers announced in March that the 2014 show will be held on March 2. The Academy Awards are typically held the last week in February.

In 2015 the Oscars will be held on February 22, back in its more traditional slot
