KARACHI: Former president and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Chief General (r) Pervez Musharraf said that he will return to Pakistan between 27- 30 January. He said that he will arrive in Karachi.

During a telephonic speech to supporters at an APML gathering in Karachi, the former president said that he was not afraid of allegations that have been leveled against him and vowed to face charges that have been pressed against him.

Musharraf said that Pakistan was going through a difficult period and said that during his tenure the country was making progress both economically and on the global stage. He said that he had steered Pakistan towards prosperity

He said that he would contest in the upcoming general elections and that he would stand as a candidate from Chitral.

During the speech the former president blamed the current government for failing to provide for the people of Pakistan and for being unable to bring any relief to the masses.

The gathering in Karachi was reportedly attended by several thousand people according to reports. Although the rally had started after a long delay, due to a poor turnout at the beginning.

Musharraf also thanked former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal and Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad for helping to facilitate the gathering.
