LAHORE, Jan 7: People’s Labour Bureau in-charge Abdul Qadir Shaheen says the assassination of Benazir Bhutto has put the politics of Chaudhry Brothers at stake.

Addressing a meeting of the bureau held here on Monday to pay a tribute to her, Mr Shaheen, who is also the Punjab PPP additional secretary-general, said the Liaquat Bagh tragedy had left the Chaudhry Brothers stunned as their dream of grabbing the prime minister slot had been shattered.

He said Ms Bhutto had laid down her life struggling for peace and the restoration of democracy.

Lahore Bureau coordinator Dr Hasnat Shah said the people would vote against the anti-democratic lackeys of dictatorship on Feb 18 and the PPP would punish those involved in the assassination after coming into power.

Labour Bureau information-secretary Saleem Mughal said Pakistan and its people had suffered during the tenure of every dictator. The members of Bhutto family had preferred laying down their lives to compromising with the dictators.

The participants of the meeting decided to hold a condolence reference for Benazir at PPP Secretariat in Faisal Town at 2pm on Tuesday (today).

Punjab PPP president Shah Mahmood Qureshi and secretary-general Ghulam Abbas will participate in the reference.
