Makran belt suffers major power breakdown

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Nov 12: The entire Makran belt suffered a major power breakdown on Monday following suspension of power supply from Iran. The chief executive officer of the Quetta Electricity Supply Company, Engineer Shafiq Khattak, said: “The power supply to the area was suspended because of a technical fault in the transmission line coming from Iran.”

The power supply to Gwadar, Panjgoor, Turbat, Hoshab, Pasni, Mand, Jewni and other parts of Makran region remained suspended for more than 24 hours.

An acute water shortage was reported from the district of Kech and other areas as a result of the power breakdown.

Mr Khattak said arrangements had been made to provide power to some areas from the Panjgoor power house.
