PESHAWAR, July 13: Mardan District Nazim Hamayatullah Mayar has said that the district government is spending a huge amount on the provision of better health facilities to people.

Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate construction of a new block in the Lund Khawar hospital to be constructed at a cost of Rs1.8 million, he said that record allocation had been made in the 2007-08 budget for the health sector.

He said that millions of rupees were being spent on the improvement of existing facilities in hospitals with the assistance of provincial government and Unicef.

The nazim announced Rs500,000 for the construction of boundary wall and mortuary at the hospital.

He said that an ultrasound machine would also be installed at the hospital.

Mr Mayar announced Rs1.3 million for various tube well projects in the district.—APP
