ISLAMABAD, May 7: A man thrashed a female associate professor of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) after entering into her office on Monday.

According to details, a bearded man, who claimed to be an old student of the teacher, entered her office at around 9am and starting punching her and dragging her as she was working on the computer.

On hearing her screams, a student, who was passing near her office, rushed to the teacher’s rescue and overpowered the attacker.

The man was taken into custody by the security guards as well as the university students. During interrogation he identified himself as Mehboob, a former student of the associate professor. However, Dr Sultana did not recognise him.

Mehboob said he did it on divine order.

The university’s administration informed the Secretariat police about the incident and told them that they would bring the culprit to the police station.

The university’s security guard shifted Mehboob to Secretariat police station in the evening where he was arrested and put behind bars on the complaint of Dr Sultana.

The police quoted Mehboob as saying that he was not aware that he had beaten the woman.
