KOHAT, April 2: Unidentified assailants blew up a music shop near the city police station here on Sunday night. The device planted in the shop, owned by Ali Marjan, exploded at 11pm. According to witnesses, the powerful blast sent the shutter and various articles flying out of the shop.

Officials said the bomb was planted inside the shop.

The police and the bomb disposal squad cordoned off the shop and started looking for clues leading to bombers.

“It is the handiwork of extremist elements. Had terrorists carried out it they would have exploded the device during the day when the area is full with people as a vegetable market, a school, a women’s shelter and a post office are located around the shop.

The in charge of the city police station, Lal Fareed Khattak said that almost all the CD shops and music centres as well as mobile phone shops had received warning from the Taliban to “close down their un-Islamic businesses.”

One such letter has been delivered to the owner of China Plaza. The owner, Mr Fahad, has been asked to close down the market where the Taliban believe blue movies and music is being loaded into cell phones.

“We were still investigating the case when two blasts rocked Kohat on Thursday night and Friday morning. In both the incidents, a video shop and a cable office were destroyed.
