KARACHI, Dec 17: The thoroughbred bay horse Lovely Concept, after his storming victory last Sunday under riding boy M. Manzoor, is fancied once again to pick up the spoils when the Winter Gymkhana Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday afternoon,

Lovely Concept beat War Lord by three lengths with plenty to spare going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.

All in all seven events have been chalked out, all going over the five furlong journey. The first race begins at 12-30 p.m.

Another runner that is fancied to win is owner-trainer A. Hannan’s five-year-old bay horse Mark, passing the winning post ahead of Silver City and Sajan Black in the fourth event.

The same can be said about Ashraf Kothari’s bay War Lord, finishing a good second last time out. War Lord should be followed home by bay filly Xtasy, with Arabian Majesty grabbing the third slot.

In the opener Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s chestnut colt Bang Man, should canter home followed home by Reliable, Super Boy and Sone Pari.

Although finishing fourth last time out behind Wondering Eyes, Lucky Lover and Little Sunny, the bay gelding Last Love, to be piloted by M. Amjad should make amends for his last run and romp home to victory in the following event.

The third race seems to be a rather tricky affair, but if all goes well, Ismail Shah’s thoroughbred Choti Moti should easily beat Falcon and Recondition in the third race.

The last event on the racing programme has a big field with 18 runners contesting for the top honours.

Of the lot, M. Yaqoob Butt, who has a fine string of horses and his bay colt Snake River to be ridden by Sher Mohammad, should come flying from behind to end the pretensions of Thousand Up and Cash Slip, with the speedy Al Jarrar and Ring Master joining the fray.
